Kal vs Aaj - Generation Gap

Many a times, you would have heard this term "Generation Gap"; This word always gets figured as a pretext to show that We (Our generation) are different from You (Your generation). Before I go further and use this word "generation" more, I would like to throw a synonym of it i.e. Cohort- "People within a delineated population who experience the same significant events within a given period of time".

The above bolded statement would help us in categorizing the Generations (accepted by researchers and sociologists) as follows-

Traditionalists (Gen. T) – Born before 1945; Also called Silent Generation. Typically defined as “team players, indirect communicators, institutionally loyal, obedient, dutiful and associated with organizational seniority.”
Baby Boomers (Gen. B) – Born 1946-1964. Traditionally described as “visionary, skilled at seeing the big picture, title agnostic, optimistic, job-oriented, conflict adverse, competitive but also increasingly interested in work-life balance.”
Generation X – Born 1965-1979. Usually regarded as “positive, goal oriented, multitaskers, globally minded, self-reliant, informal, freedom loving, job neutral and techno-literal.”
Generation Y – Born 1980-2000. Also called Millennials (2000). Typically described as “confident, sociable, street smart, diverse, technologically savvy, multitaskers and non-confrontational.”

Thus, the core idea and matter of fact is Year of Birth determining your generation and distinguishing traits, characteristics and styles of different generations.

In layman's words, Generation Gap can be defined as a gap between the thinking, attitude and behavior of father and son/daughter; saas (mother-in-law) and bahu (daughter-in-law); Nokia 1600 equipped boss Sharma Jee and tech-savvy I-Phone user Sam (Shyam).

Each generation offers unique perspectives, experiences, skills and more importantly contrasting attitudes towards work habits, communication styles and technology utilization.
Is this generation difference/gap? Is it positive? Does it affect the moral fabric of society? Does it yield to conflicts and disputes? Are these disputes avoidable or solvable?

To answer myself and the above posed questions (by me and their generation on me and this generation), the following two parameters are being discussed-
a. Career- How does one value career and how he/she understands and assigns the values to his/her career perspectives?

Gen. T and B were first-generation education getters (school-goers) and thus after completion of B.Sc/M.Sc (B.Tech/M.S @Gen. X and Y) looked for jobs to sustain their families (and families of families-Joint Family culture). Hard Labor and dedication used to be the defining "mantra" to climb up the ladder in jobs and promotion was based on these traits. Perseverance and Tolerance in behavior at work gave them satisfaction, the desired end-result of work. "Karma hi puja hain" was the one-liner of employees of these generations for whom work was as sacred as prayers and Boss next to God.
Working hours were rigid and systematic ("8 meaning 8"). Risk-taking ability was minimal and people once employed used to stay in the same company for decades and sometimes celebrating silver jubilees (may also be as a token of gratitude, relation maintenance and loyalty to the company or job). A decent salary and peaceful life with family, balancing the duo-Work-Family was above all.

Almost everything has changed for Gen. X and Y if you attempt to do a minute and point-by-point comparison on the theme "Career".
Ambitions and aspirations are at its peak and becoming the deciding factor for choosing career. Lucrative packages and CTC's i.e. "Apna Sapna Money Money" run in their minds more than anything else (driver's seat). Smart Work is preferred over Hard Work; The feeling of paucity of time for parents and family (backseat) always is another distinguishing feature of them.
Work hours and timings have become fluid, flexible and suiting the employee not the employer as earlier. Even the work place has changed from Office to Home (option available and availed). When it comes to risk, it won't be incorrect to call it a synonym for this generation. Their urge to "switch-over" and change cos. paying better (especially in IT sector) has revolutionized the employee-employer (EmE-EmR) relationship. Earlier this EmE-EmR relation was of a giver-taker (of work done) as compared to present day's taker-giver (of money in lieu of the work done); thus monetization of work has prevailed the picturesque of today's working culture.

b. Technological- MS Office (Word, Excel, PPT) has transformed the complete modus-operandi of presenting and calculating or tabulating things as compared to Registers and Bahi-Khaatas. Mobiles from Nokia 1100 to Android (-kitkat-lolypop)-Windows (-XP-7-8-8.1-10)- Apple powered smartphones (no more mere phones).

These generations differ in utilization of the tech available for all- Gen. T and B being Tech-disabled/handicapped (Exceptions are there) and tech -savvy (gadget friendly-Mobiles, Lappy, Ipods, MP3 Players with headphones and speakers-BOSE to JBL and Bluetooth transferred from mobiles to ears) Gen. X & Y. This is just a matter of timing and adaptability (favoring the X,Y). Mostly, one may listen to the T & B asking X & Y to not get over-dependent on technology and ignoring the basics (which has taken a back foot). Face of Social networking has changed from visiting friends and families on weekends to Facebook or WhatsApp or Skype. Internet-Bane or boon is beyond discussion and out of question as the utilization of the same decides the category its placed.

Managing generation-gap isn't rocket-science (buzz word these days). In fact it is more of a social science. Compromise is inevitable. But with honest, open communication and strategic mechanisms that promote healthy exchanges, generation gap can be transformed to one generation aiding other to build a seamless and bilateral transfer of knowledge and leadership for the benefit of the society we live in.

The topic of this blog was in my mind since long time. Special Thanks to my mother and Sumana Sen to throw some light on this, enabling me finally to pen these thoughts and opinion I, Gen. Y (1990 born) have about my preceding (senior) generations-T (grandparents), B (parents) and X (uncles).

Rural Developent-An imaginary concept or a future reality

MGNREGS- An impact study of the world's largest employer using the concept of 3 F's

MGNREGS (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme) was launched during UPA-I regime in 2005 in a phased manner and got implemented across the nation in 2008. It is always associated with “paradigm shift” in rural development schemes because of its following remarkable, distinct and unprecedented characteristics/features-
  • bottom-up
  • people-centred
  • demand-driven
  • self-selecting (Gram Sabha)
  • rights-based approach (Right2Work;1st amongst R2Food, R2Education,R2Info.)

1st F is the Functionaries-DRDA, PO, PRS and Mukhiya/Sarpanch.
Let’s start with PO i.e. Program Officer. One may inquire why I started with PO Sahab, a block level personnel and not DRDA, a district level agency. It has been intentionally done as it’s so difficult to explain him, his qualifications, his works, his attitude & behavior, his salary constancy and his managerial skills. He is an MBA graduate and joined MGNREGS with vigor and energy, filled with positivity and sometimes a dream to change the rural landscape. He acts as a bridge between district DRDA and Gram Panchayat Mukhiya, PRS when it comes to map the governmental Functionaries and that between people and his staff at block and panchayat levels. When he joined, he was told that he would be a parallel authority in block with BDO Sahab (looking after law and order) and him being the nodal authority for MGNREGS. A decent salary (in 2007, considered so) in governmental setup and a BOSS of a scheme at block level and a parallel authority were enough for them to join (and continues to retain almost ALL of them).

But due to no- revision (promised and reiterated many a times) of their salaries, now they have been left behind by other authorities (who were very behind in the salary race) and have a sub-standard package (in accordance with their qualifications). Being such a bridge takes a lot in managing the illiterate, poor and yet wise rural community, which still considers government schemes as tangible benefits (non-returnable/ non-refundable support/loan).

Next being PRS, soul and body of the scheme. He may rank 2nd here but often assumed to be topper in several aspects. Withdraw him from the scheme and see the world- a non-corrupt one as claimed by majority. He is the sarve-sarva of the scheme at panchayat level (though Mukhiya holds a significant hold in picking people to work, labour payments, Social Audit, Materials like Sand, Bricks etc. on credit from the market etc.). A lot of serious questions on his work and non-work related matters can be as follows-

*      How can a PRS work at a salary of Rs.5000 away from home and that also in a case when he does not receive his salary regularly and irregularity or discontinuity of the scale of 17 months? Since, he accepted the job at this pay-scale and has signed the contract specifying all the Terms and Conditions, does that block/restrain him from becoming corrupt?

*      Do you think low salaried people are prone to corruption? i.e. Can low salaries be considered as excuses for corruption at their level? This also means that high salaried people should be dry-honest and never corrupt, which has not been the case in history.

*      Do you think there is a general apathy in the government setup that drives one towards corruption and inefficiency at work?

*      Can less tedious monitoring of works done by the higher level officers and more tedious and tough checking/monitoring of those done by the field level staff like PRS/Awaas Sahayaks/HM/ASHA/ANM/AWW etc. be considered apt? If yes, why and if no, why not?

The genesis of this thinking that lower level or ground level staff are more corrupt than the higher level employees(Babus) is what was the basic reason for “BUDHWAARI JAANCH”(Wednesday Inspection) under which all the NREGA works done in a Panchayat on field and paper works in recent years were inspected. At the time of its introduction/inception, it was considered to be Anna Hazare's Lokpal type revolutionary exercise, which would put a full stop to the rampant corruption occurring in the scheme. As time passed by, the contrary was observed and it was soon realised that it has become an ultimate tool of rampant corruption in the name of Recovery and sometimes even PRS were forced to resign if not pay bribes. I am afraid that in a situation like this the world’s most ambitious and largest employment generating and guaranteeing scheme (as per the law in letter if not in spirit) may turn out to be advantageous for those who need it lesser than for those who are in dire need of the same. An irony and failure on the part of governance of the country is that the poverty-alleviation cum socialist/welfare state oriented schemes have benefitted the middle class and rich more than the needy and targeted poor (Mathew effect). This has been the past of schemes/reforms in the nation and the future is calling for the same even in NREGA.

Coming on to the IInd “F” viz. “Functions” after the above “F” viz. “Functionaries”.

Under this we would discuss the positive and negatives (if any) of the functions undertook by the scheme i.e. Impact Study of the scheme via its works on the ground.

a.       Roads- An ultimate positive achievement of the scheme has been ROADS. Five years back, we had only PMGSY (thanks to AB Vajpayee, the most recent Bharat Ratna recipient) for rural India apart from NH and SH. Today, if you reach the Indian villages via roads, you would be taken aback when you observe roads (not the BLACK ones, but WHITE- signifying strength and durabilility). PMGSY provided external road connectivity to the villages from the main roads (NH/SH) unlike the internal connectivity provided by MGNREGA.

Types of rural roads-from yesterday 2 tomorrow

PAST- Kachhi Sadak and Brick Soiling
PRESENT- PCC and above 2
FUTURE- PCC only.

This is what MGNREGA has done, a remarkable present and a probable and promising future of connectivity in the heart of the country.

 b.       Sanitation and Hygiene-
          Drains
          Toilets
          Soakpits

There was a time when one could not think about seeing a single drain in the villages (despite the fact that urban sanitation itself is poor and stinking even today). But MGNREGA brought a remarkable item in its basket of works and then rural sanitation got a kick-start and naalas were constructed. Today the mindset of people has changed to such a level that when asked about the needs of the ward (village), PCC roads and/or drains are the top most priority areas they want the government and the scheme to work on. This is evident from IPPE (Planning exercise in the scheme) where almost every ward of the state unanimously declared their most important work as PCC/Drains, leaving behind the individual works like Goatery/Poultry shed etc. and even the heart of the agrarian society i.e. irrigation-renovation of the traditional water bodies like chaur/payne etc.

The last “F” i.e. Funds, the most crucial aspect of life-public (schemes) or private (pockets), has been dealt in the end since the proper utilisation of this “F” is possible only when the former F’s succeed in their respective roles and responsibilities.

Fund flow in a CSS is generally smooth from centre to states but this scheme has been an exception. Being the brainchild of UPA, various sources have repeatedly quoted Modi-led NDA government’s intentions to scrap the scheme or restrict it to tribal and backward blocks only. But all these news have been mere news and rumours. But one think is true that post-NDA government, the beneficiaries or functionaries at district/block/panchayat level haven’t received a single penny for last 10 months, endangering the livelihoods of many and encouraging migration of many.

The policy-makers must be appreciated for a transformational and splendid job in mode of payment of the beneficiaries. Starting from Post-Offices to Bank A/c to electronic Fund Management System (e-FMS), the scheme and its beneficiaries especially have witnessed and faced a lot to receive the wages they deserve for the work they do. Ranging from weekly to monthly to semi-annually wage payment, the beneficiaries (unskilled labour force) can’t be expected to stop migrating to Punjab, Haryana and Delhi for better and timely paid works. What makes it worse is the corrupt practices of the dominant Functionaries especially at Panchayat level (Mukhiya/Sarpanch/PRS etc.).

But even after all above negatives of the scheme in monetary matters, one can’t deny the fact that the bargaining power of these labourers-cum-MGNREGS beneficiaries have increased significantly. The labour who was earlier forced to work for Rs.80-100 now easily asks for Rs.180-200, a jump of more than 100% is the direct outcome of the scheme. Checking Absolute Migration has been difficult due to above stated reasons but relatively lowered. Earlier, they migrated in non-farming months only and used to grow crops in kharif/rabi seasons back at home. But now apart from these months, they also work here in MGNREGS season (post-rainy season).

Thus, the 3rd “F” i.e Funds and heneceforth the scheme has witnessed the dawn, dusk and dawn (of next day). As a fellow working at the grassroots level and numerous others sincerely expect that the scheme no longer faces dusk. The intensity of day-light gets increased with time via creation of sustainable assets for rural development.

The conclusion of the article is left for its readers to frame and put in comments section below. Through this article, I have attempted to explain this scheme’s ground realities and issues via 3 F’s not in an academic (for publishing in Yojana etc.) but in a common day-to-day lingua. I would be privileged to know the experiences of yours regarding rural development in general and this scheme in specific. Sorry for making it a bit technical but have tried my level best to make it understandable for all, in case if still clarifications are needed, please comment. The essence of the blog is expected to be comprehended and reach to ALL.

Rural Development is more than just providing schemes, but equipping the rural population with what they need (as per their own requirements). It’s a process of societal development and transformation.

Sanitation Triangle- A subset of Health Pentagon

Good Health(स्वास्थय)=Sum of these 5 elements(Panch tatva) of the pentagon viz. Safe Water(Say YES to शुद्ध and स्वच्छ water not to be mistaken with Bisleri), Better Sanitation(Say NO to OPEN DEFECATION, Personal Hygiene(Say YES to LIFEBOUYS soap), Kitchen Management(Say NO to Smoky chulhas) and Solid Waste Management(Say YES to DUSTBINS and proper disposal). All five are not independent but very closely related to guarantee sound and proper health just as fingers in hand. If you leave one element(~finger), you are unhealthy(~disabled).

This blog would cover a few aspects of the INDEX FINGER(2nd element) i.e. Sanitation and would try to view its inter-connectedness with several issues pertaining in the society through the lens of field reality survey(and not Aerial Photogrammetry i.e.). I chose this finger(no literal feeling, Plz) as 650 million population of my nation(NIRMAL BHARAT) defecate in open(खुला आसमान) as very much evident from this animated picture(Real pic is even stark and shocking).

I don't want to make this page dirty(A-Nirmal/अस्वच्छ/अपवित्र) one as that would be in contrast to what I AIM(impossible) to highlight CLEANLINESS(which is phrased NEXT to GODLINESS). But I, you, we; none of us can deny this fact that we are No.1 in this JOB(winning the ORANGE CAP from China which always has No.1 in all fields).
Thanks to Telecom Revolution(not top forget 2G Spectrum Licenses), the outcome is that Number of MOBILES> no. of Toilets. Isn't it awesome(FUL) and interesting(Disheartening)?

Earlier it was thought that open defecation is a uni-dimensional menace that needs to be eradicated for a healthy nation, but science(माता की जय) has proved that open defecation is closely linked to the following DEADLY evils(राक्षश) namely Sanitation Triangle(MDDS)

1. Malnutrition(M)

Again here we are TOPPERS(+ve co-relation established b/w the 2 MACRO-issues). As per a study, a 10% increment in open defecation can lead to ~1% increase in stunted children(Future Human Capital or National Burden i.e.बोझ संपत्ति). The graph below is the best evidence(even for law to take its decision).

Open Defecation vs Height(Malnutrition)

2. Diseases-Air and Water borne epidemics(D)

A UNICEF report says,
1 lakh TONNES excreta=1000 lakh KG=10^11 Grams=10^7 Virus+10^6 Bacteria+1000 Parasite cysts+100 Parasite(TOO many ZEROES even for a maths guy thus ^ came in rescue) are left unguarded EVERYDAY along river and stream banks, in open fields, on road sides and farms to contaminate water sources, that women and girls carry for ALL household jobs(Drinking, cleaning etc.). How can then one expect the family to be healthy(Khali/Salman etc.)? How can then one shut the doors of diarrhoea(epidemic disease) from the home of poor kids?
The mother, innocent many a times is the culprit for her son's poor-health OR the entire village who chose to defecate near a water body nearby(for sake of convenience).

3. Dignity and Security(D&S)

Do you think these OPEN defecating people feel secured and honoured? Don't they deny sending girls to schools as there are no toilets(Closed and Separate)?
Dignity does not come with class/money-Thus, Poor and Rich both aspire to have a dignified life, but do they succeed in majority of the cases, Perhaps the answer is in negative.
Why? Because they perhaps still don't know their RIGHTS and are being exploited(on different fronts using different techniques).
A recent Badaun Rape case occured due to this issue only(if one accepts,"Bachon se galti ho jaati hain"remark). Had they have toilets in home, they won't have gone there which culminated to be the last destination of their life.

This blog would be incomplete without discussion on Government schemes(in a Welfare State) viz. Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan(NBA); the sole campaign(missionary) on this front that has the potential(सच्ची) to translate/convert all the open defecators to closed bathrooms addict in association with Indira Awaas Yojana(IAY), which mandates construction of house with toilet for ALL but w/o conveying WHY TOILET is required(;as lucidly explained above) leads to the status quo(56% open defecation population).

Though I did not emphasise on numerous fronts and facts(Govt. vs Real figures) that are available in market, I feel its high time we strive hard for Universal Sanitation ASAP in true sense(not as the government has been procrastinating the deadline from 2012 to 2022 to 2054).

18000 CR vs 16800 CR

Though the title may seem vague and incomprehensible, all attempts have been made to make it understandable in a simple, lucid and factual-cum-rational manner.

The title speaks about the Revenue generated from selling the TOBACCO products(=18000 Crore) against the money spent by this population on treatment of the tobacco causing diseases(=16800 Crore). If we include the loss of Human Resource(deaths leads to loss of human capital), the value is unthinkable. Its more than 1Lakh CR.

Now, if one goes for a Cost-Benefit analysis of Tobacco-Products sold by the government just in the name of Revenue generation, it should realise that it is here also on REVENUE DEFICIT(~1lakh CR).
Thus from this, we can deduce that Tobacco manufacturers are at profit on one hand and government are in severe loss(which can't be seen with telescopic eyes;one needs to have microscopic eyes).

A look at several forms of तंबाकू सेवन (Tobacco usage products) and their variation in different scenarios and cases as below:
Bidi(बीड़ी )
Sutta(a very very famous nomenclature for Cigarette in educational institutions), Bidi, Khaini, Gaanza are the most common and prominent tobacco-products; dominance of one depends upon the place(College-First and Last), society(Jats & Gujjars- Second and last), region(Haryana-second and fourth vs Bihar/UP-second and third), class(Higher/upper-middle-1st and 4th vs Lower-2nd and 3rd).

Self-explanatory is to aware the जनता about the ill-effects of the products(not limiting to Mukesh and TAR advertisement shown before movies start OR ill-implemented Statutory warnings on Packets viz. धुम्रपान स्वास्थ्य के लिए हानिकारक हैं ) apart from increasing the TAX to cover the Revenue deficit and also prevent the population who have nothing to eat but tobacco to smoke and chew(POOR).

Its high time to understand this vicious cycle of Tobacco usage, Health issues and Tax generation at the cost of millions of innocent lives who have fallen prey to this cycle due to situation or environment or style statement or modernization or whatever.
Nahi to wo din door nahi, jab khasi ke wajah shardi-jukham kam and sutta-bidi jyada nikalegi.

Lets pledge on this World NO TOBACCO-Day that we would strive hard to put a COMMA(if not FULL STOP) to ONE PERSON's habit of the SILENT KILLER consumer and strive towards a CHEWING-GUM cum लेमनचूस nation.

Those who feel can manage this menace may not discontinue but the poorest of the poor who are as of now wasting their precious money in this social-cum-cultural habit should be prohibited to enjoy the poison of 21st century.

Say NO to TOBACCO
and YES to LIFE(with dignity and respect)!!!

Development of the mankind@Mining

First of all, the most basic and important question here is, WHAT IS MINING?
a. It's one of the most IN-auspicious and HAPPENing location where you mine(खोद /खनिज ) to extract minerals/ores profitably from धरती माँ.
or,
b. It is the phenomenon during which we take out (excavate) these so-called RESOURCES?
or,
c. It is the situation that leads to displacement and disturbing of "n(Z)" number and types of Resources(Physical or Natural or Human i.e TRIBALS/poorest of the POOR GUYS).

Now, the question here arises, shouldn't we "Take-Care" of these displaced/uprooted/almost-killed जनता due to our खनन कार्य ?
or,
Should we live these poor guys/FELLOWS at the mercy of the nature that even could not save herself from being बंजर due to the so-called DEVELOPMENTAL activities.

Before you reach on any answer, let us look at the paradigm of Mining vs Economy[Development vs Growth(INCLUSIVE)] vs Politics(National cum International) vs ENVIRONMENT( Clearances).

The 1st part i.e. Mining is already answered(explained) in the above questions(itna bhi jaan pana aur samjhna aj tak na ho paya HUMSE).

Coming to the 2nd part, Economy.
Post-LPG reforms, mining is not a normal activity but a PARANORMAL and SUPER(RA)-NORMAL work. In this era, we created many jargons in economy which made us to open our markets and MINERALS more and more. One of these is IIP(Index of Industrial Output), a mathematico-economical jargon created by the industrialists, government and capitalists(The PACEMAKER of socialist country's heart). It conveys whether the industrial output of a country has increased or decreased and to what extent with respect to a fixed base reference i.e. The number of chapatis in your lunch/dinner has increased/decreased and to what extent(during your DIETING from the day it started till date).

In the name of development(economic-KUM-human), we even allowed foreign companies to take out minerals as RAW MATERIALS (Iron ore etc.) and selling even them, thus allowing them to make manufactured products(Steel etc.). We are an exceptional example in this matter(apna raw material bahar becho and baad me usse bana hua samaan kharido).

To add to it, FACTS are the best supporters of cross-checking and endorsing any idea/point.
On HR side, app. 255 million people got displaced and about 80% of them are tribals(Vth and VIth Schedule Areas) during 1950-90 in India and almost same जनसंख्या has been alienated from their PRECIOUS source of livelihood in post-reforms era(undermining PESA-1996).

Also, mining contributes 14% to IIP and in the recent times its share has been on the negative side( Thanks 2 mining ban on Iron ore@Western Ghats(Gadgil chacha vs Kasturirangan maharaj), LARR Bill(GREAT SOCIO-Eco. Bill) , CoalGATE Scam(Don't mistake it with Colgate Paste but Kaala coal/koyla) and policy paralysis in granting clearances (Jairam Ramesh-Natrajan-Moily).
Now, the question that knocks the gates of our minds is that,"WHO IS the FAULTY in the above SCAMY mahoul"? Our Ex-PM MAuN(मौन) Mohan Singh or Madam-G or Rajan Sahab(RBI) or Chidambaram chacha(The LUNGI man) or NONE of the above(best option in exams).

Whatever and whoever be the culprit and apraadhi, we need not only to bring the growth trajectory on the GRAPH paper but also rehabilitate and re-settle these unsettled and thrown-out people.
Its high time to start helping(Rehabilitation and re-settlement) these poor and innocent fellows before Naxalism and Criminalization takes over these areas and LAAL SALAAM becomes the Slogan of the people instaed of Jai Kisaan, Jai Jawaan, Jai Vigyan.

"YEH KAHA AA GAYE HUM
YU HI SAATH SAATH CHALTE

Mother(M)-Child(C) Relation-A Critical Review

My previous blog ended with "its high time to review the relationship between SON/DAUGHTER and mother. But sorry to say that for seeing my INTELLECTUAL(?) work on that part you need to wait for a while as it would be in my next blog, so here I am BACK with a BLOG (don't know whether it is BANG).

Hope you all had a fantastic Mother's Day(official day 2 show love/respect and care) and a weekend.

Don't you think its high time for examination/ introspection about whether the Mother-Child(Male/Female/Others) relationship TRAIN is rolling on track? If yes, what would you term it,"an EXPRESS train or a Passenger one? If no, why not, is what we need to see, ponder and then decide ki kitne paani me hum(M-C relation) hain.

You may feel awkward and irritated with the fact that I have started a blog with QUESTIONS. But I did it deliberately as in 21st century(ULTRA-modern) society when morals or values have been undermined by technology or Sustainable Development(Jaha bhi jaoge Mujhe hi paoge), many relationships have changed, if not in NAME surely in TRUE MEANING.
Out of those many relations, one is M-C relation, one of the most auspicious, famous and respected relations in human history and civilisations.  I may sound weird and CRITICAL PARENT( a concept of Transaction Analysis) but this is what I have observed over the years and documenting what I perceived as below.

Not many decades back, in this nation Mother used to be treated and respected as GODDESS and her decisions, be in education, marriage, trivia anything used to be sacred. She was the ONE-and-ALL of the child from the day she/he kicked in womb 2 birth 2 adolescent(not to mention later as WIFE enters the picture). This made children have a close relationship with her and gave them more avenues and things to share making them closer.

But nowadays, we are modern; life has changed, we are more educated and tech-savvy. We have many more things to do before we thing about her as time is limited and opportunities are limited making the competition stiff and neck2neck. No mistakes of we, children almost in majority of cases. To add to it, we can't pay special homage and Thanks to LPG reforms + boom of IT sector growing(though Already GROWN enough) popularity of the concept of Nuclear families, we see our mother not on a daily basis but a six-monthly/annual basis(as our SEMESTER/TERM Exams).

Now after seeing the two terminals of M-C relation, how do you evaluate this transition(Demographic/Cultural/Economic/Social) leading to erosion of it? Whether its shaking(if not uprooting) this TREE which has mother as its ROOT and children as the BRANCHES and their achievements(social/economic/political) as LEAVES and FRUITS? Or its fine yaar, itna chalta hain.

Combining Natural Sciences and Social Sciences, I have postulated the following 3 LAWS of Mother-Child(M-C) relation(using Newton's Laws of Motion):-
  1. First law: When viewed in a time period, the RELATION either remains at rest(static) or continues to move(dynamic) at a constant manner, unless acted upon by an VALUES(INTERNAL factor).
  2. Second law: V= kR; where V=Value, R=Relation and k=Happiness Factor
  3. Third law: Every value has an equal and opposite value (to counter i.e. the values of M and C both need to be inspected, controlled and self-regulated).

These so-called LAWS may go a long way in celebrating Mother's Day DAILY and not only on single day of the year. It is WE(C) who need to self-examine and test whether we have "V" (high enough) to get k>=1 in this M-C "R".

I have made my blog OPEN-ended and not a CLOSED one as Open system allows two-sided relation and not one-sided as closed. WE(C) are a critical element in this VVI relationship[using Newton chacha againU(Understanding)=MC^2; "C"role is squared and hence higher]. We just need to decide whether to go for FISSION(Joint family breaking to Nuclear family or FUSION(Combining Small Families to create bigger ones). We are in a trade-off between "U-238" and "H".

See you SOON(with more vigour and venom of science ETC.)

MOTHER and WE@HappyMother'sDay

I have been a nonsense post updater on Facebook for a long time apart from my PARAGRAPH STATUS(Terminology for my status@college mates/friends due to their GRAND sizes). And these awesome(awful) guys used to say me, "Are Yaar, tu na blog hi likha kar " .But to their dismay(happiness) I used to dismiss their suggestion as I had failed to imagin the so-called IMAGINATIVE people who take numerous DIPS in the river systems of the world(पवित्र Ganga/Yamuna/Hwang-Ho/Nile/Amazon/Mississippi) while writing novels/poems/prose/blogs until 11th May, 2014 i.e. Today which also celebrates MOTHER's DAY and so there could not be a better title for my 1st BLOG.
Mother/maa/mummy/mamma/mom or माँ/जननी is a connotation for a female character whose 9 months struggle and pain/agony ends with the birth of a lovely child. You come out to this unsafe and misery world from the safest place of the universe i.e mother's womb. She understands your needs/ requirements even before you made your debut on this earth and always delivered them(KHUSHIYAAN ki HOME DELIVERY). She makes you feel comfortable and safe after she gives you birth, introducing you with all family members and says you to HI everybody surrounding this 2.5 kg बच्चा/ बच्ची all the time in his/her first couple years of life. She not only feeds you and trains you from Day-1 to feed yourself for the entire life. She also wipes your tears when you cry against this brutal world's realities and teaches you how to fight future challenges even when she is not around(though you want her to be with you always). Hence, it is said that she is 1st teacher of anybody's life. Though GOD created 2 wonderful parents-Mother and Father and gave contrasting and special traits to both of these fabulous creatures, it is the former who establishes a connect that none other than her can even dare to making her as 1st Parent. She is the one with whom you discuss all your daily events and even cries at times in her laps, which is the safest and most serene place on this earth. She is your 1st and best friend who neither betrays you nor ever falls short of fulfilling her COMMITMENTS/promises(unlike other so-called SPECIAL relationships). If in a line, I have to define her(which is an impossible and unjust job), I would use the CONCEPT of my Professor(who has taught us concepts using the example of cat/chair) as "A female character who gives birth to a child after keeping her/him( her precedes him;Women empowerment ) safe in her womb for approx 36 weeks"(Sorry Sir I may have failed to define the concept of mother in so-called CONCEPTUAL manner and I accept the toughest and arduous of the punishments ).
After defining(in bad/worse/worst way) MOTHER and changed the paragraph(as a veteran blogger), its high time to review the relationship between SON/DAUGHTER and mother. But sorry to say that for seeing my INTELLECTUAL(?) work on that part you need to wait for a while as it would be in my next blog (As first blog should not be a PARAGRAPH BLOG as my Fb status).
As of now, enjoy MOTHER's DAY for all those who are with their mother by taking them out and giving her a treat and all those who are far from her(like me), call her, wish her and say how much she matters for you.

Anticipating your feed backs and comments(true/constructive) on my maiden blog.
